LEAP DAY 2008:

*bamboo ear plugs with burnt design pattern ends* *bamboo ear plugs with burnt designs patterns ends*
*bamboo plugs burnt designs patterns ends* *bamboo ear plugs with burned design pattern ends*
*burnt bamboo earplugs* *varied sizes burned bamboo plugs*

Add half the pair prices for burnt designs on the ends of bamboo plugs.
For example, if the pair price for plain bamboo would normally be $12/pair,
a pair with burnt designs on one end of each piece in the same size would be $18/pair.

We do not necessarily want to repeat the same designs over and over, so this will hopefully serve to give you a good idea about what is possible in what size. Obviously, most of these are huge, and complicated patterns can only go on big plugs with thick walls, so small plugs will have to be simple and minimal, like the first image. If there is a certain unique design that you are hoping for, please let us know and we can burn it for you. It must be composed of lines and/or dots, and can be on any size of bamboo plug.
All but a few of these particular plugs have already been sold; others can be custom ordered!

*protong Szukalski bronze ear weight behond the protong 2X zoom* *protong Szukalski bronze ear weight behond the protong* *protong Szukalski bronze ear weight behond the protong 2X zoom*

Behold: the Protong!!!
These bronze earweights were inspired by Stanislav Szukalski's "Struggle" sculpture (1917).
The design represents the struggle of the individual against society; singular quality versus quantity.
The caption here, and thus what we've decided to name this new weight,
is the name of a book of Szukalski's art, within which he posits an ancient mother language, the protong.
The center image is posted at real size, and the left and right images are blown up 2X.

The first edition, a batch of 6 bronze pairs, is now available.
We may work on some changes for the next edition, such as removing some material from the top
to make them a little less top-heavy. Let us know if those changes might be of interest.
Each piece weighs just under an ounce (0.91oz-0.98oz aka 26.0g-27.7g),
and measures 00ga at the top. Prices for protong weights in bronze are $65/pair.
Silver is a possibility for the future, though silver prices are still quite high.

A disarticulated mink skeleton in a box (science project!), strangely put out by the Webster Division of McGraw-Hill Book Company (no. 18513). I do not believe that this is a complete skeleton, and you should expect bones to be missing.

$25 for all this fun!

*Turkish shishkabob cheek skewer*

I know what you're thinking, but you'll be smiling cheek to cheek when you find out that
this really is just a very stylish Turkish shish-kabob skewer.
The shaft is flat-ish in cross section, the end is not really sharp, and I have no idea what type of metal it's made out of.
So really, this is intended to impale your veggies with, not your meat.
Approximately 16" long! Please click on the above thumbnail-sized scan to view one at life size.
Hmm, a new thought: cut in down and wear it in your dreads like Shiva's trident!

*Burmese tattoo sticks* *Burma wooden tattoo box* *Burmese tattoo needles* *Burmese tattoo weights*

Four Burmese pressure-fit tattoo instruments in carved wooden boxes. $150/set.
The instrument itself disarticulates and consists of a long split 'needle' bar made from one piece of metal (brass?), a hollow shaft, and an elaborately cast heavy counterweight. Each pressure fits into the other, but most have a little bit of wiggle, which could be taped to make for a tighter fit.
Please click on these thumbnails to view larger images; however, none are at life size.
For an excellent article about the types and meanings of these counterweights, please see "Tattoo Weights from Burma" by Noel F. Singer in Arts of Asia magazine (March-April 1988), Volume 18, Number 2.

These come inside carved wooden boxes with slots for the three sections, and a hole for ink.
