but haven't really made a public announcement about nor posted online.
Without further ado: officially introducing...
BAMBOO PLUGS WITH BURNT DESIGNS ON THE ENDS!
::Please click on the smaller images below to view versions at full size::
Add half the pair prices for burnt designs on the ends of bamboo plugs.
For example, if the pair price for plain bamboo would normally be $12/pair,
a pair with burnt designs on one end of each piece in the same size would be $18/pair.
We do not necessarily want to repeat the same designs over and over, so this will hopefully serve to give you a good idea about what is possible in what size. Obviously, most of these are huge, and complicated patterns can only go on big plugs with thick walls, so small plugs will have to be simple and minimal, like the first image. If there is a certain unique design that you are hoping for, please let us know and we can burn it for you. It must be composed of lines and/or dots, and can be on any size of bamboo plug.
All but a few of these particular plugs have already been sold; others can be custom ordered!
Huge chakte kok wooden spirals measure between 1-1/8" and 1-3/16". $125/pair.
I chose this wood because the spirals can still be quite large yet relatively lightweight.
>3/4" chakte kok wooden HUGE spirals. This species of wood is fairly lightweight...
Giant wooden hoop earrings that are flat-ish in cross-section (minimum 1/2" to insert)
are made from either: coconutwood with wider gaps at the bottom ($30/pair)
or Philippine ebony with thinner gaps at the bottom ($40/pair-SOLD).
Both types have been left a bit chunky (not super duper refined).
Please click on the above thumbnail-sized image to view one at full size.
Mostly clear yellow <0ga ($50/pair) Mexican amber saddles.
We only had these pairs; they are hard to obtain. The middle and right-hand 00ga pairs have SOLD.
These prices are retail, NOT wholesale like the rest of our offerings.
Please note that is an exception to our pricing rules; wholesale is NOT available for these.

:: New silver, bronze, and steel ::
Behold: the Protong!!!
These bronze earweights were inspired by Stanislav Szukalski's "Struggle" sculpture (1917).
The design represents the struggle of the individual against society; singular quality versus quantity.
The caption here, and thus what we've decided to name this new weight,
is the name of a book of Szukalski's art, within which he posits an ancient mother language, the protong.
The center image is posted at real size, and the left and right images are blown up 2X.
The first edition, a batch of 6 bronze pairs, is now available.
We may work on some changes for the next edition, such as removing some material from the top
to make them a little less top-heavy. Let us know if those changes might be of interest.
Each piece weighs just under an ounce (0.91oz-0.98oz aka 26.0g-27.7g),
and measures 00ga at the top. Prices for protong weights in bronze are $65/pair.
Silver is a possibility for the future, though silver prices are still quite high.

We have multiples of the upper three types (#A, B, C), but only a few of the lower three (#D, E, F).
#A and #B both have hidden dragons, and only vary in a slight font difference and the type of adornment surrounding the turqoise colored stone inlays to the left and right of the mantra,
#C has a copper base and is the widest, but does not have hidden dragons,
#D are the thinnest and have hidden dragons; we also have ones with red or blue colored inlays,
#E uses multiple metals on the mantra, including copper (no hidden dragons), and
#F is a simple mantra (no dragons; we only have one piece of this one).
Chinese base metal hilltribe bracelets with simple
dotted designs in the form of dragons. $15/each.
Four base metal bracelets ($20/each): one with a phoenix and a dragon,
the next has the eight auspicious symbols of Tibetan buddhism,
the third is a Miao tribe tribal floral design,
and the fourth is a hilltribe segmented dragon bracelet.
A medium width red cinnabar flower bracelet, along with a wide cinnabar red and black butterfly, and
a dragon and phoenix design (two sides of the same bracelet are shown last), are all $10/each.
Dark green spotted stone bracelets. These were sold to me as jade, but I am not certain of it.
Most have awesome pyrite inclusions. Some have just the faintest hint of blue. $10/each.
New brown wooden bracelets come together into points in the middles. Only $5/each!
Fake amber (plastic) bracelets... I know what you're thinking: plastic?!?
Yes, I am offering these to show how easy it is to fake amber, they look quite real! $15/each.
Next are fake spotted tortoise shell/amber/bamboo rhizome bracelets. More plastic, but
I found these to be novel representations of several different natural materials. $10/each.
Two black horn hairsticks with subtly different bamboo patterns; both have diagonal tops.
The top version has less length on the taper for hair, and has parallel node sections with tiny pits.
The bottom version has more length, and the node sections are zig-zagged. $15/each.
Six single pieces of striped ebony wooden spirals for use as pendants.
$12/each piece. Sorry, kids, there are no true pairs here!

Sewn with a zipper and black string attached to the top. $20.

I also have a piece of cloth, around one foot square, with a darker background. $30.
A disarticulated mink skeleton in a box (science project!), strangely put out by the Webster Division of McGraw-Hill Book Company (no. 18513). I do not believe that this is a complete skeleton, and you should expect bones to be missing.
None of these images are to scale. Please click on the image on the left to view a very large, more detailed one.
$25 for all this fun!
I know what you're thinking, but you'll be smiling cheek to cheek when you find out that
this really is just a very stylish Turkish shish-kabob skewer.
The shaft is flat-ish in cross section, the end is not really sharp, and I have no idea what type of metal it's made out of.
So really, this is intended to impale your veggies with, not your meat.
Approximately 16" long! Please click on the above thumbnail-sized scan to view one at life size.
Hmm, a new thought: cut in down and wear it in your dreads like Shiva's trident!
Four Burmese pressure-fit tattoo instruments in carved wooden boxes. $150/set.
The instrument itself disarticulates and consists of a long split 'needle' bar made from one piece of metal (brass?), a hollow shaft, and an elaborately cast heavy counterweight. Each pressure fits into the other, but most have a little bit of wiggle, which could be taped to make for a tighter fit.
Please click on these thumbnails to view larger images; however, none are at life size.
For an excellent article about the types and meanings of these counterweights, please see "Tattoo Weights from Burma" by Noel F. Singer in Arts of Asia magazine (March-April 1988), Volume 18, Number 2.
These come inside carved wooden boxes with slots for the three sections, and a hole for ink.
The wooden box measures around 2-3/4" by 2-3/4" by 12" in length.
Please click on the image of the box to view a version at life size.
Three unique New Guinea penis gourds (aka phallocrypts or holim). $65/each.
The one with burnt designs and the dramatic curve has SOLD.
The two remaining are painted, the slender one of which has attached seed beads.
Please click the thumbnail-sized images to view scans done at real size.
We have four other gourds that are not yet shown that have woven zig-zag designs in natural pigments;
several have attached beads and shells. Prices on these range from $30-$40/each.
